Why Filter Water?

Why Filter Water?

Water has to be filtered in order to reduce unpleasant odors and colors and make it better to use.

I already filter my water before drinking....Do I need another filter other than my drinking water filter?

Yes, if you want clear and fresh water for doing the laundry, taking a shower and washing your hair, or for many other general purposes around the house. Even your drinking water filters will work better, if they are getting blocked with iron and manganese. This is because drinking water filters can be blocked and clogged due to substances like iron and manganese. Therefore, it is often very helpful to have a pre-filter. Blue-Diamond water filters reduce iron and manganese before they get to the drinking water filter.

However, the Blue Diamond water filter is not sold or intended to be used as a drinking water system. Here is an example to help explain why. Think of a water treatment system like a home air conditioning system. The more rooms in your home, the bigger your air conditioner must be. Similiarly, the dirtier your water, the more equipment and filtration you need. With air conditioning, if the outside changes temperature, either hotter or colder, it affects how hard your air conditioner must work and how big it must be. Think of a water treatment system and the filters and water cleaning equipment the same way. The quality of the water and how much water you use determines the type of filters and equipment you need. That is why a "water treatment system" must first test the water (i.e., just like looking at the number of rooms to cool in our example), size the equipment and select the filters (buy the correct air conditioner and air filters in our example), and then design, install, and maintain the system. This is a very complicated process and usually done by an experienced certified water treatment professional. If you plan to drink the water, it is a necessity. One should never drink water without first testing for bacteria and viruses. Also, there are about another 100 contaminants in water that can make one sick, very sick.

Shall I use the Blue-Diamond system as a drinking water filter?

No! Blue Diamond's system is only for general household use to reduce iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide. It is not intended as a drinking water treatment system.
If you need a water treatment system which you intend to use for drinking water for your home or business, please contact a certified water treatment specialist. Other water treatment technologies using ultra-violet (UV), Reverse Osmosis (RO), water softeners, carbon filters, or other filtration may be needed for a drinking water treatment system.
