          The Ozone System

How It Works

An ozone generator pumps ozone into the pool through a tube extending down to a special filter resting on the bottom of the pool. As the ozone bubbles rise inside the filter, the bubbles draw water through the filter, cleaning and clarifying the water 24 hours per day. The ozone system helps to reduces impurities in the water, including bacteria, algae, colors, and odors. 

The system is easy to install and use. Merely mount the ozone generator near the pool, and extend the ozone line to the filter.  Let the filter sink to the bottom of the pool and turn on the system. Within a few seconds, the ozone bubbles will be coming to the surface and the system is cleaning the pool. Oxygen and slow filtration are Nature's method of cleaning water. Springs and mountain streams are naturally cleaned by millions of tiny air bubbles in the water as it percolates and filters through layers of sand.

The Blue Diamond ozone system works the same way. It fills the water with millions of air and ozone bubbles and slowly filters the water at the same time. It helps keep the water clear, fresh, and balanced.

Works Great with Chlorine and Other Chemical Systems

Blue Diamond's ozone system works in addition to your pool's regular maintenance, chlorine, salt, and other chemical supplies.  After several months, you may find that you can adjust the amount of additives used as your pool water improves with the ozone system.

An Installation Story

The following story traces an installation of Blue Diamond's ozone system which was first installed in a small test pool located in a tropical forest in Southeast Asia. The ozone system has kept the pool water sparkling clean for over three years. The pool uses Blue Diamond's system and a normal commercial sand filter. The results have been remarkable. The pool water has remained clean, clear and balanced since the pool was first opened in March 2003. As of August 2006, the water has never been changed.

Tropical Pool

The source water for the swimming pool originally came from a nearby mountain lake. The pool is located in a tropical forest in northern Thailand near the Burmese boarder. The mountain lake water was a murky brown, filled with algae, plants, animal wastes and organics of all kinds.

Muddy Lake Water: After construction, the pool was first filled with untreated water directly from the lake. The village kids were so excited that they went swimming before the ozone system was installed in the pool.

With construction complete, the lake water was treated by first passing it through a slow sand filter and then a multimedia filter and finally into a storage tank with Blue Diamond's ozone water treatment system. The treated water was then sent to the pool.  The pool was kept clean and sparkling using Blue Diamond's ozone pool system and a conventional pressure sand filter.

The pool water has not been changed since it was first filled in March 2003. It has been used daily by adults and occasionally by children.

Swimming in the pool has been a wonderful experience. Often, friends have come by for a swim. They are all surprised at how much the water looks and feels so clean.  They are amazed to learn the pool water comes from the lake up the hill.

Simple System

Blue Diamond's ozone system is simple to use and install.  Whether you try to install the system yourself or have your local professional install it, you will be surprised how easy it is to use.  Simply drop in the filter and let it work with your existing pool equipment and normal maintenance procedures.  Blue Diamond's system will help the other cleaners and filters work better.  In time and with more experience with Blue Diamond's system, you may adjust some of your maintenance procedures as the water improves.

For the most part, the ozone system will take care of itself and it will blend with whatever chemicals and additives you are currently using.  As always, however, check with your local pool technician to make sure the Blue Diamond system will be appropriate with your specific pool, since there are so many variations in chemicals, filters, additives, and cleaners.

Shipping: Blue Diamond's system is shipped in two boxes, one box for the ozone generator and another for the filter.

Installation

Blue Diamond's ozone system is easy to install. Just mount the ozone generator in a protected structure, such as a shed, pump house, garage, or other sheltered area where it is protected from sun light, wind, dust, and rain. Run the ozone line to the filter and drop it down the side of the pool. There are no valves, pipes to cut, or pumps to worry about. Just plug in the generator and let it start cleaning the pool.
